Wacken Open Air


 

El Wacken Open Air fue fundado en 1990 por Thomas Jensen y Holger Hübner,es uno de los principales festivales de música de verano al aire libre de Heavy Metal . Se lleva a cabo anualmente en la pequeña ciudad de Wacken en Schleswig-Holstein, al norte de Alemania. Con 70.000 visitantes del festival, incluido el personal y un total de más de 72.000 asistentes en 2007, que atrae a todo tipo de amantes de la música metal, como los fans de Black Metal, death metal, power metal, thrash metal, Gothic Metal y folk metal , de todo el mundo.

El festival se celebró por primera vez en 1990 como un pequeño acontecimiento para bandas alemanas locales. En 1998 el caso se había convertido en el gran festival de metal en la agenda europea y ha incluido a más de 70 bandas de toda Europa, América del Norte y Australia. W: O: A suele celebrarse a principios de agosto y dura tres días, durante el cual los asistentes del festival-campamento en varios grandes campamentos que rodean la zona del festival. Los 70 o más bandas de realizar a través de cuatro etapas en el transcurso del evento.

La edición de 2009 establecer un historial de ventas, que se vende a cabo el 30 de diciembre de 2008. Todas las 70.000 entradas se vendieron más de 200 días antes de la apertura del festival.
